MARLENE ROSE KOSTYNYK

It is with great sadness that I announce the passing of my mom on December 4, 2025. Remembering the Star Wars crafting we'd do on Hershey Street, the itchy collared shirts you'd dress me in for school photos and the buttered toast wrapped in foil. Love you, Mom.

Condolences & Memories (6 entries)

  • Darren & Lorrisa, I'm sad to hear about your mom. Even though we weren't close for many years, her passing is a huge loss, and I'm sorry you're going through this. I'm here for you, whatever you need. - Posted by: Bev McNamara (sister, godmother, and aunt) on: Jan 09, 2026

  • Gerry and I are very saddened to hear of Marlene's passing. We met Marlene when she started dating Lorne, We have wonderful memories of her story telling, her sense of humor, her joke telling but mostly her love for her family and friends. We will miss her phone calls just to check in and make sure that we and our kids were well and to get caught up on what was happening in her life. We will miss our yearly visit with her when we were in Winnipeg. She was a beautiful soul and she will be greatly missed. Our deepest sympathy to you Darren and Lorissa. She now has her angel wings and is dancing and entertaining up in heaven. - Posted by: Cathy M Pestun (Friend) on: Jan 06, 2026

  • I am truly sorry for the loss of your mom Darren. She was a dear friend and we had a special and unique connection. I met your mom when we bought a piece of property from Lorne and Marlene back in 2008 to build our home in Winnipeg. Our backyard fence connected their yard with our yard, and there was a little gate that my children used to go between yards to get popsicles from your mom in the summertime. She generously offered us her witty sense of humor and treated my family like we were her own. It is with great sadness that I share your loss. Even after we moved to Calgary in 2012, your mom phoned us regularly, usually Fridays because she knew that was my day off to check in with me and see how my crazy boys were doing in their new environment. I share your tears and your sadness because Marlene was a wonderful woman who had a joyous and infectious laugh. There was never any hidden agendas, just pure friendship. She will be missed. Love and prayers to you. Love Nicole, Dave, Reid, Nathan and Oliver XOXOXO - Posted by: Nicole Stasiuk (Friend) on: Dec 28, 2025
